This program is designed to focus on producing graduates capable of conducting internationally recognized research in pharmaceutical chemistry and natural products. It leverages the diversity of biological resources and Thai traditional wisdom, along with knowledge in pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutics, and other related scientific and pharmaceutical fields. This aims to facilitate the research and development of drugs, herbal products, and health products, fostering graduates who can independently pioneer new knowledge and understand the process of creating and applying new knowledge in the development of pharmaceutical chemistry and/or natural products research. It also emphasizes the continuous integration of their expertise with other sciences, alongside moral and ethical standards.

The program’s importance is highlighted by three main objectives: to update the curriculum in line with the national higher education qualifications framework of 2009 and the graduate curriculum standards of 2015; to ensure the curriculum is modern and aligned with advancements in pharmaceutical chemistry and natural products; and to meet the demands of graduates from the public, private, and state enterprise sectors.

Career prospects for graduates include:

Researchers in laboratories of various institutions such as universities, scientific or medical research institutes, and industrial research units in chemistry, medicine, herbal products, and other health products.

Faculty members in science or health science departments.

Entrepreneurs or employees in companies manufacturing and/or distributing chemicals, medicines, herbal products, dietary supplements, cosmetics, and other health products.

Expected learning outcomes (ELOs) include:

ELO1: Ethical responsibility and honesty in academic and research ethics.

ELO2: Integration of knowledge in pharmaceutical chemistry and natural products with related sciences.

ELO3: Development of new knowledge or extension of existing knowledge to innovate in pharmaceutical chemistry and natural products, integrating related sciences.

ELO4: Lifelong learning capability.

ELO5: Production of research in pharmaceutical chemistry and natural products, both theoretical and applied, with national or international dissemination.

ELO6: Accurate analysis and synthesis of academic information.

ELO7: Teamwork adaptability, including leadership and social responsibility.

ELO8: Appropriate use of statistics or mathematics for analysis and interpretation, and the use of information technology for research and presentation.

ELO9: Effective communication skills.

Admission involves a selection examination for bachelor’s or master’s degree holders seeking further studies at the master’s or doctoral level in various disciplines. The Graduate School and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences manage the exams throughout the academic year for admission in the first or second semester. More details and qualifications for applicants can be found at the Graduate School, Naresuan University.
